The list of scents we have for Christmas time includes all of the following,Sugar cookies, gingerbread, Peppermint,Chocolate, Chocolate peppermint,Eggnog, Amber. Not to be unconventional, but the traditional scents are a little too familiar. The soap batch is coming along, still anticipating they will be reasy by Christmas day!
This is the time of year when we want something scented to keep the senses alive. However, we are going back to basics, and making some Exotic Vegetable Soap today. The intention is to stay all natural and make the most of the olive oil, coconut oil combination. We will be following the recipe to the letter, as the emphasis is on all natural. Might get into more scented soaps in
the New Year, like this Abahna White grapefruit and Chang which we recently tried to make.
All Natural Soap
The latest batch of soaps to come out of soapscrub’s moulds are christmas themed ones. Timed perfectly, with Christmas just 3 weeks away, we went for an all natural soap to give to loved ones. The ingredient Lye features in this process but is not on the ingredients list of hand soaps, because it mixes with fat to produce natural soap. It is a mysterious component of the process, though is actually quite dangerous. This is quite interesting as we always associate soaps as a natural bathing product yet a chemical is used in the process.

Soap giant Unilever suffered some irreparable damage when their all natural campaign was proven to be based on palm oil taken from deforested land. This was re-ignited in the news as Brazil’s government have now declared intentions to take measures to prevent further damage to the rainforests.
The larger impact for the soap community means it is easier to get the right ingredients that are environmentally aware, and equally are effective for those with sensitive skin!
